Count-Down for Spring
One is the flag fluttering in the breeze,
Two are the kites careening by the trees.
Three are the worms wriggling in the ground.
Four are the robins listening for worm's sound.
Five are the daffodils wearing green and yellow.
Six are the calves, following mother's bellow.
Seven are the crocuses, bursting in the air.
Eight are the tulips, swaying everywhere.
Nine are the raindrops, dampening everything.
Ten are the children welcoming the spring.

Spring Again
Spring again
Spring again
Spring again
Isn't it?
Buds on the branches
A breeze in the blue
And me without mittens
My sweater unbuttoned
A spring full of things
All before me to do.

I Love the Spring
I love the spring.
For every day
There's something new
That's come to stay.
Another bud
Another bird
Another blade
The sun has stirred.

Spring
Today is the day when bold kites fly
When cumulus clouds roll across the sky.
When robins return, when children cheer,
When light rain beckons spring to appear.
Today is the day when daffodils bloom,
Which children pick to fill the room.
Today is the day when grasses green,
When leaves burst forth for spring to be seen.

It's Spring!
Bees soon will buzz.
Rabbits soon will hop.
Birds soon will sing.
Frogs soon kerplop.
Chicks soon will peep.
Kids soon will play.
A fine spring day!

Hello Mr. Wind
Hello Mr. Wind, I know you're there.
Pulling on my kite up high in the air.
I can watch my kite go everywhere.
I can't see you but I know you're there!

Growth
A little garden flower
Is lying in its bed
A warm spring sun
Is shining overhead
Down come the raindrops
Dancing to and fro.
The little flower awakens
And starts to grow.

Five Spring Things
When I look, I hope to see
Five little things that say it's spring.
One is leaves upon the trees
Two is grass that turns to green.
Three are flowers orange, red, and yellow
Four is the robin, a worm-eating fellow.
The last spring thing, or number five,
Is the springtime rain that brings it all alive!

It's Spring!
Good-by, snow! Good-by, ice!
Though of course you're very nice,
I am glad you've gone away
Leaving us this fine spring day.
Here's my good old bat and ball!
Marbles, too! How are you all?
I am sure that I can play
With you now, most any day.
Good-by, winter! Though it's true
I've had lots of fun with you,
Now I just could shout and sing,
I'm so glad because it's spring!

Springtime
The wind told the grass
And the grass told the trees
The trees told the flowers
And the flowers told the bees.
The bees told the robin
And the robin sang with cheer,
"Wake up! It's Springtime!
Wake up! Spring is here!"
|
Springtime
A small green frog
On a big brown log;
A black and yellow bee
In a little green tree;
A red and yellow snake
By a blue-green lake;
All sat and listened
To red bird sing,
"Wake up, everybody,
It's spring! It's spring!"

When Spring Appears
Meadowlarks
give lusty cheers
when spring appears
when spring appears.
Buds and seeds
prick up their ears
and blades of grass
show eager spears.
And only icicles
weep tears
when spring appears
when spring appears
~Aileen Fisher

Spring
The air is like a butterfly
With frail blue wings.
The happy earth looks at the sky
And sings.
