Brush, Brush, Brush Your Teeth
(tune of Row, Row Row your Boat)
BRUSH, BRUSH, BRUSH YOUR TEETH,
AT LEAST TWO TIMES A DAY.
CLEANING, CLEANING CLEANING, CLEANING,
FIGHTING TOOTH DECAY.
FLOSS, FLOSS, FLOSS YOUR TEETH
EVERY SINGLE DAY.
GENTLY, GENTLY, GENTLY GENTLY,
WHISKING PLAQUE AWAY.
RINSE, RINSE, RINSE YOUR TEETH
EVERY SINGLE DAY.
SWISHING, SWISHING, SWISHING, SWISHING,
FIGHTING TOOTH DECAY.

I Had a Loose Tooth
I had a loose tooth, a wiggly, jiggly loose tooth.
I had a loose tooth, hanging by a thread.
So I pulled my loose tooth, this wiggly, jiggly loose tooth.
And put it 'neath the pillow when I went up to bed.
The fairies took my loose tooth, my wiggly, jiggly loose tooth.
So now I have a nickel and a hole in my head.

The Tooth Fairy Came Last Night
Yesterday I lost a tooth
When I ate a lime.
The tooth fairy came last night
And she left me a _______________.
Yesterday I lost a tooth
When I ate a pickle.
The tooth fairy came last night
And she left me a _______________.
Yesterday I lost a tooth
Just like cousin Jenny.
The tooth fairy came last night
And she left me a _______________.
Yesterday I lost a tooth
It fell on the fence.
The tooth fairy came last night
And she left me a _______________.
Yesterday I lost a tooth
It fell on my collar.
The tooth fairy came last night
And she left me a _______________.

This Tooth
I jiggled it
jaggled it
jerked it.
I pushed
and pulled
and poked it.
But --
As soon as I stopped,
and left it alone
this tooth came out
on its very own!

Little Tommy Toothbrush
(Eensy Weensy Spider)
Little Tommy Toothbrush
Had a big job to do.
He spread himself with toothpaste
And jumped up to scrub a tooth.
He scrubbed and scrubbed the germs away
To prevent tooth decay.
Then Little Tommy Toothbrush
Jumped down and said "Hooray!"

Teeth
I need my teeth to chew my food.
I need my teeth to bite.
So I brush to keep them healthy,
And I brush to keep them white.
I eat good foods and drink my milk
To help my teeth stay strong.
I want to keep them healthy,
So I'll have them all life long!

Are Your Teeth Clean and White?
(Tune of: Do Your Ears Hang Low?)
Are your teeth clean and white?
Do you brush them every night?
Do you brush them in the morning?
Do you brush them right?
Do you brush them side to side?
Are your teeth clean and white?
Do you floss them good
To remove the bits of food?
Do you floss them every day?
Like you know you should?
Do you take good care of
The teeth that are there?
Do you floss them good?

My Teeth
Can you see my teeth?
I use them to chew.
I chew things like carrots
so my teeth stay like new.
Can you see my teeth?
I use them to bite.
I bite things like apples
so my teeth will stay white.
Can you see my teeth?
I use them to speak.
I say "t" and "f"
every day of the week.
Can you see my teeth?
I use them to smile.
I brush until my grin
is as wide as a mile!

When we do our dental health unit we read lots of books about teeth. Students take home a "Tooth Truth" page to be filled out at home with their parents and bring it back to school. They use their individual information to do class graphs. We do 5 different graphs to show information about our teeth. The students do comparisons, work in groups, and ask questions for each of the graphs.

|

The line graph shows when students got their first tooth.
|

Adding machine paper was used to make this graph and shows the
different toothpastes that students use at home.

This large toothbrush is made from 2 pieces of tagboard put together in
the middle, so it can be folded for storage. I also had it laminated for durability.
Precut strips 1 1/2 inches of the colors for toothbrushes are stapled onto the strings
hanging down.
|

Students put their names on individual teeth for this graph.
I bought these at the Learning Post. You could also just make
them out of construction paper. These are neat because they have
a little smiley face in the corner.
|

The last graph we did was a circle or a pie graph to show how
many teeth our first graders have lost!
