Terrific Turtles!

When we study animals, we do a lot with Frog and Toad Books.
I thought it would be fun to do some things about turtles, too.
Students became really excited about turtles when we had a
nonfiction story about turtles during guided reading!

I Have a Little Turtle

I have a little turtle,
He lives in a box.
He swims in the water
And he climbs on the rocks.
He snapped at a minnow
He snapped at a flea
He snapped at a mosquito
And he snapped at me.
He caught the minnow,
He caught the flea,
He caught the mosquito,
But he didn't catch me!

A Turtle Is a Reptile A turtle is a reptile. Its home is on its back. It never has to worry, If someone will attack. When it spies an enemy, What does it do so well? It simply takes its head and feet And tucks inside its shell!	I'm a Little Turtle (to the tune: "I'm a Little Tea Pot") I'm a little turtle, I crawl so slow, And carry my house Wherever I go. When I get tired I pull in my head, My legs and my tail, And go to bed!
Snapping Turtle He snaps in the morning, He snaps at night. He snaps at each bug As he takes a bite. He snaps so much, He's quite a sight. Snap! Snap! Snap!	Tidy Turtle My turtle is a tidy boy! When he's tired of play, He folds himself up carefully, And puts himself away.
Tommy Turtle Tommy Turtle, look at you go. Tommy Turtle, you are so slow. But when danger comes, you'll stay well, By pulling your body into your shell.	Turtle Well, well, well, Turtle in its shell! On the land or in the sea, Creeping slow or swimming free. Crawling 'round on stubby legs, Digging holes to lay its eggs. Well, well, well, Turtle in its shell! ~Meish Goldish
Here Is My Turtle Here is my turtle, He lives in a shell. He likes his home Very well. He pokes his head out When he wants to eat. And pulls it back in When he wants to sleep.
